I don't know about anyone else, but I would love to hear David bowie sing the entirety of Lou Reed's discography. (I know that he's done a few songs and they're awesome.) What covers would you like to hear?

I would have loved to have seen Frank Sinatra sing Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

I think I would also have liked to have heard Courtney Love or Hole cover most of Nirvana's music. I think that Courtney Love has a similar voice to Kurt Cobain, but she's very good at singing raw emotion.

This is a strange one, but I have always wanted to hear Johnny Cash cover Jill Soboule's song, "I Kissed a Girl." It would have been epic! Also, Richard Hell and the Voidoids should really have done a cover of "It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want To."

I like it. But I'm sure that Jill Soboule did another song I like but I have no idea which.

For the times that we wish Dylan did a rendition of The Doors' When the Music's Over.

Thom Yorke should do more Neil Young and Pink Floyd covers IMO.

Elliott Smith should officially record his Beatles / Dylan / et al covers as he does them exceptionally

Fixed, as dead people can't record songs

Modern/screamo version of Rites of Springs "For Want Of" would be nice.

There are a lot of songs I would like to hear as black metal versions, featuring tremolo picking, blast beats, and high screams. Mmmmmm.

WhiteChapel cover of Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. I still think that song is one of the heaviest fucking tunes every composed, and would translate brilliantly into a really brutal heavy metal version.

I always thought a Traveling Riverside Blues or In My Time Of Dying (also by Zep) remix would make a great beat for a rapper like Immortal Technique or Tyler the Creator.

What?

Kashmir was amazing because it wasn't heavy as fuck, John Bonham's drum beat and Page's guitar give it that heavy edge but the lyrics and arabic sounding interlude give it and even more interesting edge. Whitechapel just would not be able to pull it off and give it that great 'Light and Shade' that Zeppelin gave it.

As for the the second statement.

Tyler the Creator can go jump off a cliff the ugly bastard if he thinks he can ruin the almighty Led Zeppelin, He is such an annoying person.

Bob Dylan covering Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush.
Billy Bragg doing a version of Blue by Eiffel 65.

Or better yet, Tom Waits covering anything by Sigur Ros.

I hate this thread and it hates me.

I've always imagined 1965 era Byrds doing Redemption Song by Bob Marley in the same vein as their Dylan covers. It's kind of a cheesy song, but sounds totally right for them.
