Sally Ride had a secret.

It didn't keep her from reaching for the stars:

Sorry but that's how much I don't like Christianity or anything that deals with Abrahamicism which I view it from great disgust.

Who cares? That doesn't mean that we all have to refrain from using it.

Well how about that? I wonder how the American public will react to this news (particularly the homophobic men/women who looked up to her before this came to light).

Also the use of Christian rhetoric in the title of a thread is the most minior inconvenience imaginable, show some interest in the topic will ya?

The US is a wealthy-white-straight-christian-male based society (the ones who own the modes of production) where most of it's proletariat are socially conditioned to worship them while shunning anyone who is not like them (women, different ethnic groups, different sexualities, etc).

But more than that, my admiration for this remarkable woman has grown: Because she was a woman, gay and among the bravest of the brave.

...the logical extension being that anything anti-wealth (fair enough!), anti-white, anti-heterosexual, anti-christian and anti-male is a progressive force in society.

And so we venture into the domain of the Eurocommunists, the identity politicians, the rainbow-coalition liberals who move their ire from class war that is based on sound theoretical principle to a war on several groups, subjectively identified, in a war that is designed to fragment the working class into white and non-white, religious and non-religious, male and female.

I'm a white male born into a non-atheist culture, but i'm also a worker, yet if you represent Socialism and i'm a non-conscious worker, then you've already alienated me by accusing me of representing something nasty simply because of the colour of my skin, my culture (or that which I was born into!) and my gender, none of which I really have any choice over.
