View Full Version : Trying to keep the faith - In lieu of an introduction

Been around a while. On the general scene I mean. Been lurking here, but never posted. Decided I'd try it out.

I maintain faith that we'll get things together, launch a social transformation and set humanity back on a decent footing. But the more I learn, and the stronger I become on theoretical, economic and political grounds, the more I have to battle the old "human nature" crap, even as it rises within me.

You can see some of the problems I'm dealing with in the thread I started in learning: "What to do with the anti-social, selfish and ignorant?" (sorry, can't post link as a new member).

Lately I've been reading a lot about all the bullying going on, in America, in Asia, all over. It's really bothering me. Here are innocent young children doing this horrifying things. Driving others to suicide even. It's really difficult to see a new dawn rising out of that darkness.

Still, I maintain.

Anyway, I look forward to participating here and hope some of our conversations can help break me out of my doldrum!

Welcome! I appreciate your energy and agree that the human species can get things together. But it's not happening.

The triumph (globalization) of capitalism has manufactured a systemic conservatism in all aspects of human society that is readily apparent on the "left" and at Revleft. It's well past time to re-revolutionize Marxism and re-think revolutionary processes and the organization of anarchist/communist communities. Marx and Engels would be doing this/would have done this, and we are way behind in engaging our revolutionary, human duties.

The left is clearly stuck and we leftists must re-learn to cultivate open, critical (revolutionary) minds.

Welcome and my red-green best.
