I was invited to a Prayer group today

I have a friend who is like "Hardcore christian" by that i mean he smokes pot, steals, and swears but always has i bible in his hand. You know, he thinks that since he goes to church every week he's forgiven..who invited me to visit the prayer group knowing full well im an Atheist

But anyway theres a prayer group after school called S.T.A.T.I.C Students taking action together in christ....

Now at first i was cool you know, freedom of religion, bu then i asked my pal Doug what they did there, he said they just had a guest speaker who lectured them on the immorality of homosexuality, and how wrong it is.....

I was about to flipp out and now my goal is to end this group....And i will be attending the meeting tomorrow as an atheist....any suggestions on how i can piss them off? Other than bible contradictions?

well if you are gonna be lectured on the "immorality" of homosexuality then i suggest bringing up that David had a sexual relationship with Jonathan for starters.

why waste your time? the more attention they're given the more they will spread. why not start a leftist or social justice group instead? do something positive.

well at least you tried, but don't waste your time harassing other groups. perhaps you could do things personally...hang flyers for amnesty intl. or greenpeace or perhaps for progressive political leaders in your area.

Is your life boring and uninteresting? Can't find anything good to read or any good websites to visit?

I see no reason, then, not to go and give them a hard time...there are many ways to do that.

It may be entertaining, for example, to ask for their "arguments" for "God's existence" and then trash them...easily done if you know something about the subject.

Or you could just play with their minds...ask them what they will do when they get to "Heaven" and find out that it's Muslim?

Still, it would be better to go ahead and organize some kind of left group--forget about the "responsible adult". You don't need "official permission" or "recognition" to do whatever you please.

If the "authorities" try to give you a hard time...well, that's your first "organizing issue". You can rightfully point out that the school lets these christian nutballs have a group...why can't you?

Ask him the differences between Protestant, Orthodox, and Catholic churches. To be more specific what are each of those church's views on communion, purgatory. Ask who exactly is the devil and what are his powers and they will most likely not know what to say. If they're Protestant and ask about praying w/ icons and Mary. Say you're asking the icons to intercede for you. Ask if Christianity is psychological, since most Christians were raised into it so they don't really have "faith." Give an example such as white kids raised in racism thinking blacks are inferior "ni**ers" down in the South.
