We can choose to use the wealth of our nation and the talents of our people for war, or we can use that wealth and talent to better the lives of men, women, and children in this country. We can continue being the target of anger and terrorism and indignation by the rest of the world, or we can be a model of what a good society should be like, peaceful in the world, prosperous at home.
Is he seriously going to run?

Do you mean Zinn? No, he is not going to run. The speech is what he would like one of the Democrats (if memory suits, I read it yesterday) to make. He explains that he wrote a speech like this in the late '60s (author's note, at the top of the page) arguing for withdrawl from the slaughter in Vietnam. His speech then was what he hoped to hear from then-President Lyndon Johnson. I have never seen the original, but I suspect this new article is largely an edited version of the original, made more relevant to the current occupation of Iraq.
I would vote for Zinn if he did run for prez, but he was not even writing this speech with the intention of giving it himself.

I appreciate the sentiment, but this isn't anything Kucinich hasn't said a hundred times before. Granted, Zinn is directing this toward whichever Democrat wins the nomination. Whether one of the front runners (who are all decidedly more moderate) will deliver something of this nature remains yet to be seen. I will say this, though. Don't get your hopes up.

I had heard a few months ago that he was going to run for president in the Peace and Freedom party in California. I don't know what ever came of it, but they are a relatively small group.
