Just thought I'd make a thread in honor of Woody Guthrie, the American musician, communist, and anti-fascist. He was born on July 14th, 1912 - one hundred years ago today.

love Guthrie! favorite song of his "Miss Pavlichenko", by far the best song about Russian women killing Nazis. Also, as a Washingtonian I have to give a shout to "Grand Coulee Dam" and "Roll on Columbia"

A much deserved thread.
I just thought I'd like to add a little not to well known fact about Guthrie. When joining CPUSA, he would not denounce any religion, especially his own, Christianity. He wrote for The Daily Worker, but he was never a card-carrying member of any Leftist party, mostly due to him never renouncing religion.
He shoulda' been killed, though, too, huh?
