I do not know much about what is happening in Russia, but what I have heard from some is that there are still quite a few communists, and indeed Russians in general, who find their current economic situation so dire, that they would like to see a return to communist government. Can anyone enlighten me on this subject?

well lets not forget, they were miserable when they were communist and they where left miserable and poor by the communist.

I will ignore the post above.Yes,you are right,there is still widespread support for the communists in Russia.I beleieve that they hold a few Duma seats,but I could be wrong.

Russia is currently under a kind of capitalism/gangsterism.
A condition that some say was a by product of the days of the Nomenklatura when bribery and corruption were the normal means of getting anything done...

i never really had much respect for soviet style communism give them respect for being the first nation to try out communism and thus didnt have much in the way to go by.
