Hi, I hope I can make contributions and learn from the other "foristas" (I can´t remember the English term).

Ideologically, I am a Orthodox Marxist (Trotskyist, however I disagree with the Transitional Program and the theory of degenerated worker´s states, among other things).

I do have some controversial positions that are very unpopular in "left" organizations:

1) I believe that cultural (ethnic or sexual orientation) politics are divisive distractions.

2) I do not believe that revolutionaries, however effective they may be, can signifigantly raise the consciousness of the proletariat in this economic structure: capitalism.

3) I do not believe Marxist organizations should take sides in political clashes between two factions of the bourgeoisie unless a) it is a military conflict and b) the organization in question finds itself within the same geographical space as the conflict.

Since these issues are the bread and butter of so many parties, I am anticipating a cold reception. However, I am looking forward to the debate.

Depends on the extent (some people take it into "white/male/whatever guilt" that becomes seemingly defeatist and strange to me), but to completely ignore cultural issues, "cultural politics" is folly.

"Guayaco" is Spanish slang for "a man from Guayana" (Venezuelan Guyana), a "guayanés" (Venezuelan Guyanese), right?
