View Full Version : Free Palestine!
Of course, I was pro-Palestine before, but I was sort of...ignorant of the whole issue. But then, around the time of Yitzhak Shamir's death, I did some research into the subject. I learned just what it was that Israel was doing that was wrong. So now, I am a firm opponent of the occupation, of Zionism, and of Zionists.
I've also developed an interest in learning Arabic.
So...yay for me.

Also good for you, it is always good when someone recognizes the terror that is done (not only to the palestinians but world-wide), good luck with learning Arab.

Free Palestine implies nationalism though. But whatever.
It seems somewhat weird to me how the death of Yitzhak Shamir led you to a pro-palestine position. But also whatever I suppose.
Arabic is a beautiful language, but incredibly difficult. My 'tip' (and it sucks, but--again--whatever): do not learn grammar but focus on vocabulary.
So instead of saying "I like football", learn how to say "me. like. football" (Ana ahabba kurat al-qadam) without conjugating it. I suspect everyone will know what you mean, but it's a lot less difficult to learn.

Actually...
I was researching on the settlements and whatnot before I payed attention to the news regarding Yitzhak Shamir. I think it was Yitzhak Shamir and learning about him that really got me riled up, though. Before the news of his death I had no idea who he was.
Zionists in the NPR comments section may have helped.
And yeah, I know 'Free Palestine' implies nationalism, but I couldn't think of any other slogan.

Thanks.
Icelandic is still kind of my main focus. I'm actually not too sure, actually.

''Free Palestine'' doesn't necessarily imply nationalism, because Palestine is currently occupied by an imperialist power. Palestine really has no choice but to fight for its own freedom; it cannot really just rely on internationalism when they do not have a chance to join an international workers earth.
