Hey guys I'm new here. I actually only found your website/forums through lookin up Che Guevara online. I am still young and developing my own views but politicly I consider myself an independant in that I am willing to listen and take the good from more than one parties point of view. So call me a utilitarian I guess. Anywho, I want to know what you guys are about taking what I can from the fact that 99 percent of you seem to be at the least moderatly liberal and your website is designated to a communist revolutionary.

1) Do you guys support communism?

2) Your opinions on say gun control. The right to keep and bear arms is important to me.

3) Does this board serve a purpose other than to flame the right and complain togethor?
(Given the overall population/mood of this board is overwhelmingly liberal)

I know these questions are general and its difficult to speak for an entire board but just give me a general idea. As far communism goes though I believe the idea of an economic "utopia" (or as close as you can get to it) sounds wonderful history has shown it does not work that well. But again, please prove me wrong because I am not what you would call well read in this area lol.

Thanks,
Alex

1. Not all of us are communist. I for examplea m a democratic socialist

2. Positions on various issues such as gun control vary from individual to individual

3. Flame the right? Complain? No this site is mainly for discussion and arguementation on a wide range of issues

it does not work that well

For the record no "communist" society has ever actually existed. If you read the workks of marx and engles none of the societies called communist have ever actually been truly communist.

As far as socialism I suggest you look at America in the early 20th century. Alot of our ideas saved this nation, especially form the great depression.

Social Security for example was first thought up by socialists. Norman Thomas used it as the main issue on his campaing for president..unfortunately the democrats stole alot of socialist ideas.

Also what works depends on your definition of work.

If capitalism's goal is to make it so that top 1% of families in America have 40% of the wealth and that 50% of the families have 3% of the wealth then yeah capitalism "works".
