Basak Sahin Duman moet worden vrijgelaten!
Op 29 mei vloog Basak Sahin Duman van Duitsland naar Zagreb en werd bij aankomst vastgenomen door de Kroatische politie die beweerde dat er een internationaal arrestatiebevel tegen haar bestaat. Zij zit nu in een uitzetcentrum.
Basak Sahin Duman studeerde in Ankara medicijnen en werd in 2003 gearresteerd bij een actie voor goed en gratis universitair onderwijs. In 2004 werd zij nogmaals gearresteerd bij een studentendemonstratie tegen de antiterreurwet. Na maandenlang voorarrest voor verhoor werd zij eindelijk vrijgelaten. Zonder een enkel bewijs werd zij in 2010 met tientallen anderen samen voor 224 jaren veroordeeld.
In 2006 trouwde ze met een Duits staatsburger. Ze woont en werkt - met een verblijfsvergunning - in Duitsland.
Om uitlevering aan Turkije te voorkomen heeft Basak Sahin Duman politiek asiel in Kroatië aangevraagd. Er zijn meerdere gerechtsoordelen uit Frankrijk, Duitsland en Zwitserland, waar op grond van dezelfde zaak waarin Basak is veroordeeld, politiek asiel werd verleend.
De Rode Morgen verklaart zich solidair en eist: Basak Sahin Duman mag niet aan Turkije worden uitgeleverd! Zij moet onmiddellijk worden vrijgelaten!

Contrary to propaganda that we live in a World of "freedom and democracy", imperialism uses all means to destroy its opposition, especially those who fight for a world without exploitation. We have seen how Croatia also participates in the struggle against those fighting for a just World with the arrest of Turkish student activist Başak Şahin Duman, who is currently in jail in Zagreb awaiting extradition to Turkey, country with large number of political prisoners, and a country which regularly tortures prisoners.
At the same time, German state is attacking the antifascist movement. In recent months, the police attached huge antifascist and anti capitalist mobilizations on the First May in Berlin, the Blockupy movement in Frankfurt and the blockade of nazi-march in Hamburg. Before that, on the 31th of March, the police attacked an antifascist demonstration in Nürnberg and injured four people. An antifascist activist from Stuttgart, Deniz K. (http://slobodazabasak.blogspot.com/) was arrested and charged for attempted murder of two policeman with a flag pole! This ridiculous accusation is the result of the fact that this Nürberg demonstration also warned about the connections between state structures and Nazi terror. To their word of dictatorship of the capital, of wars and repression we oppose our international solidarity.
