ive just finished reading a book entitled, The Tragedy of Afghanistan by Raja Anwar. For anyone interested on how the current problem in Afghanistan began i recommend this book, it deals at lenght with the government of the 70's, along with the april revolution of 78 which allowed socialist party to take over. it talks about the role the ussr played in afghanistan and why it was needed, it also deals with the constant problems within afghan society. And im sure most of you will be interested in this; it also discusses how the american government from 1980-85 gave over 650 million dollars to rebel groups, arming them, funding them, hell its part of the reason why now these groups exists. it is a great book, if u can find it buy it, peace

today, i read in the starphoenix (saskatoon, ca), that there was an demonstration in afghanistan for a new afghan monarchy, the king who ruled til 1973 should get back in power, but this king (cant remember the name) doesnt wanna have a monarchy, he supports a represantative democracy.
just wanna say.

interesting freiheit, im from toronto ontario myself. as for King Zahir Shah, I dont think bringing him to power will do much good there is too many internal problems that need to be resolved and many of the warring factions hate the ex king. peace
