Luckily, I don't have a shiny Q-ball head. However, my dad went bald, so *takes deep breath* this affliction will probably claim my beautiful flowing locks too :blushing:

Denial > shame > rogaine > shave
My hairline's starting to recede and I imagine that's how it'll go. I'm not that bothered by it yet though. Or maybe I'm just still in the denial stage.

My dad used to have nice long hair during the early 80's, but he shaved it off just before he got married and it never grew back. Would probably happen to me to, so fuck that, I like my 3ft of hair... I'm just going to let it recede until I look like something resembling Bill Bailey.

My barber, the fair Nicole, is an expert at making a little bit (of hair) go a long way, for which I am grateful. Plus, it's uncommonly pleasant to have a female barber, a female physician, and a female dentist and hygienist, none of which I asked for – it just turned out that way. I also find that, as I get older, follicles or their absence is something I worry less about than I did earlier.

C'mon, man! Baldness is not an "affliction". It's a normal genetic trait as prevalent and as harmless as having blue eyes or thick lips or a big nose like mine.
In fact, baldness can be a very attractive feature to many people of the opposite sex or of the same sex.
I once dated a bald woman who sported a beard. Not a long beard, mind you, but one that tickled when she kissed me. Lola, I think, was her name...

Here's some advice for young and old guys who are worried about their hair falling out:
Cut it short. The shorter you keep it the longer it will take to completely fall out. Also, if you keep it really, really short, by the time it all falls out hopefully you will have forgotten you ever had it.

Don't worry, your eyebrows and earholes will do their best to make up for it. Comb upwards.

I have beautiful flowing locks.
But if I ever go bald (unlikely - not much precedent for it in my family), I'll just shave my head.
The males on both sides of my family are bald, so there's no hope for me. :(
Plus I have a fat off meathead!

My father was bald, although he became so much younger than I and had less hair left than I currently do at the same age. My own balding pattern resembles more that of my uncles on my mothers side.
It started to be seriously noticeable around the age of 24 or so and took about five years to develop beyond control to the point I have no option than shaving my head (if I don't want to look much older).
As I'm an extremely vain person, and loved my hair a lot, I tried for a long time to shape, bleach etc my hair in order to make it look less thin -- at times resigning and shaving it all off, but then letting it grow back again and trying some new method to mask my beginning baldness.
However, for almost a year now I haven't been able to form a proper hairdo anymore -- and haven't even tried to, but just kept trimming and shaving my head about twice a month. It's better to give up when you know it's over.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Now it's my turn to complain.
I have very abundant hair on my head. The problem with it is that it is very thin, limp and unruly; It will obey no comb or brush without ungodly amounts of brylcreem:

I remember reading some article on a medical website a few years back that said that involuntary baldness was going to join smallpox as an affliction that modern medicine has effectively wiped out.

I deal with it by having handsomely short cropped hair, well fitting clothes and a svelte body sculpted from many hours of careful eating and working out. Add to that a mind like a steel trap and an ex-father-in-law that will spend his last dime trying to have me killed and what you got there my friends is the TOTAL package, sans those old curly locks. Hair? We dodn't need no stinking hair here!

Who cares? Unless you are balding in your early 20's by the time you go you'll probably have a couple kids, a couple jobs, you'll be getting on in years and a pretty mug will be the least of your worries.
Of all the things to worry about...baldness? You could be blind, deaf, in a wheelchair, have cancer. How will baldness seriously effect your life?
Isn't that when Lenin went bald^
Coincidence? I think not!

I'm going to take propecia if I start to go bald.
If that doesn't work, surgery.

i think bald/shaved is a good look for both men and women and I don't know why more women don't go with it.
the only reason i don't shave my head is because i am afraid my head is lumpy.

I can only speak for myself, but I like having my hair to play with, dye different colours, put into different styles, etc. I'm trying to grow it a bit now. The length still hasn't recovered from my mohawk.

Shaved is a good look. For men, for women. More people should definitely do it instead of clinging into their hair when the struggle has been lost.

Most men in my family lose their hair in highschool! Fortunately I haven't yet nor have I seen signs of it thinning out and I am in my 3rd year of uni. It'll probably go in my mid-twenties or something. Luckily I have a good woman who doesn't care about my beautiful locks so I am not too concerned, but its always been a bit of an insecurity for me. Definitively shave it off when it starts to thin out.

I got one when I went bald. It says "GET OUT OF VIETNAM", maybe I was a bit late with it ,but still rings true if we ever go back in, right?
My mother is not bald, but I am.
obviously the mother is not afflicted by male pattern baldness, but she carries the genes that would give it to you not yer dad
