Well, I am glad and enlightened Saddam was captured; however, Im not liking that America is *shrug* "exploiting" this "victory" as a GO AMERICA YEAH WERE ALL UNITED YEAH GO RED WHITE AND BLUE USA!!11111

Man, what a fucked up world we live in. Sometimes I wish we had a utopia, sometimes I wish we had an apocalypse. ugh.... I hope to God someday this shit will change someday... I know im just ranting but when you consider: Life, existence, dominance, power, meaning: what is the purpose to life. I guess I follow Sarte: "Hell are other people."

Consider every experience in your life: watching the alien movie series, playing computer games, having sex for the first time, watching planes at night, havign serene moments. What is our purpose? To be driven to work like machines for capitalism? To be a pawn and slave to God? To do what? To reject existence? WHY WONT THE WORLD JUST FUCKING DIE?

Below is an attached drawing that one of my friends did: "Good v.s. Evil."

Everything the USA does since 9/11 get's painted with the GOD BLESS THE USA YAY RED WHITE AND BLUE!!!!! I recall at a graduation ceremony at my former high school last year, we had to stand up for the pledge of allegiance and I grumbled about it to myself. A friend next to me told me to "have some patriotism." Many have been brainwashed and believe the USA's own hype and propoganda.

If Bush is re-elected, do you think anger will mount and America will become leftist, kinda like how Imperial Russia became communist? (But on a smaller scale...)
What are the chances?

StreetSweeper,

For someone on the street, he/she might say , " This guy is fucked up in the head~~!!! :o "
For someone in che-lives, we say " We are with you, fear not! "

This is the place for you, "Welcome! To the real world~" (as Morpheus said to Neo in Matrix I ;) )

Most of the things labeled "patriotic victories" are fakes anyway. Saddam is still out there, don't worry.

We aren't fans of the Butcher of Bagdhad. Is that how it works, Hank? If we aren't sacrificing our children to the god of christianity in praise that Saddam Hussein has been captured we are fans of the man? No one even said that it was a bad thing Hussein was captured. StreetSweeper even stated that he was glad Hussein was caught and all. We're just a little bothered by the fact like this, along with every other things covered by the news, is going to be used in Bush's next campaign; claiming that he single-handedly protected the United States from terrorism and extinguished the threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

pre-fuckin-cisely.

Bush will play on America's patriotism in his campaign. Claiming that by putting their children in harms way, that by sending their children to their deaths he saved us from terrorism and from saddam.

Despite the fact that saddam wasn't an imminent threat.

If bush wanted ot fight terrorism he needs to start witht the CIA

if you dont have faith in the government (like me) have faith in this!

in surveys, american citizens have become dramatically more untrusting of the government. there has been atleast a 20% decrease in the number of americans that trust their government.

something along the lines of like 80-90% of the citizens trusted the government in 1950
now it is more like 50-60% of the citizens trust the government

Sorry my friend. I read this thread first and was confused. It's a little deep for me. I read one of the other threads later and what you say is true. The posters were indicating relief that Hussein was captured.

Drake, please accept my apology.

There are still plenty of crazies out there in the world who want to harm civilization however we each define it.

Catching Sadam was no shock to anyone, I didn't expect him to have the guts to kill himself and have his guards to burn the body which I'm suspecting that Bin Laden did perhaps.

Finding Sadam is actually good because now we can get to the bottom of the mysterious WMD... which I still say don't exist. I don't see how Sadam is in the position to lie at this point. We shall see.

I am just a little pissed that after Bush said catching Osama and Saddam not that big of a deal anymore, and not a priority any longer, that it is treated like a big deal, by the media and by the president and all his followers. If I saw Bush come out and say, "Its nice that we got him, it makes things easier but like I said before his capture was far from essential to our operation in Iraq." I would be much more pleased. But that is just how I am towards honesty.

I don't like the idea of Bush getting credit for this, which is going to happen. His approval ratings are going to go up as if he went out and got him himself.

I don't like the fact that they couldn't or wouldn't give us an immediate answer as to what they planned to do with him. Like I am expected to believe that they haven't had a plan on what to do once they caught him, designed in the last 8 months.

I don't like all the people cheering in America like this was a football game. They are cheering like it was they themselves who had to live under Saddam.

I really don't like the idea that because of this success, the general public might be even more accepting to an attack first policy for foreign affairs. That it will be okay to do things like shrugg off international allies for whatever the president says.

I don't like the fact that now everybody thinks this war was justified, and that the mission is accomplished or the accomplishing the mission they talked about all hinged on his capture.

I don't like the idea that if he doesn't get the death sentence, then any place he goes to will probably be nicer than that 2 foot hole he was in. That he will eat regularly, have easier access to medical conditions, doesn't have to live on the lamb and doesn't have potential threats everywhere. If he does get the death penalty then he is getting the easy way out.
