View Full Version : The Middle Ground of "Gay"

A lot of people seem to forget what "gay" really means in the way of being joyfully out of place, and they don't seem to recognize that calling someone "gay" is a way of discreetly referring to homosexuality.

I don't really understand why calling someone "gay" is an insult. Is it because it's such a curt word that people don't like it?

Aside from that, there seems to be another problem - what about people who are actually gay, not homosexual?

For those who don't know, there are actually psychological disorders called "social anxiety disorder" and "histrionic personality disorder" which address this exact area. They concern people who feel giddy out of place, but aren't homosexual. I guess homosexuals can have these conditions too, but that's a different point.

This might be why many people believe you can condition homosexuals straight. In reality, you can't condition social anxious confident or histrionics coolheaded either. You can teach them what to obey, but that's emotional repression. Still, people treat these conditions as caused by the afflicted since emotions can be triggered by circumstances which people can anticipate.

As such, when homosexuals behave "gay", they're thought of as bringing it onto themselves for lacking confidence or not being coolheaded. Some homosexuals will even look at socially anxious or histrionics as potentially homosexual out of their own confusion.

What do you guys believe should be done about these conditions?

It is an insult because it possess negative connotations and is only used as an assault to denigrate anything which the user considers to be "messed up, wrong, stupid, or whatever."

I also have no idea what you mean about the difference between gay and homosexual. Linguistically, in modern reference terms, they mean the same thing. What does bringing in social anxiety disorders have to do with homosexuality?

Give a good response or I am closing this thread today.

I feel like you're being stubborn since I explained what "gay" originally meant. My point is homosexuality has replaced the actual definition of "gay" that's supposed to pertain to other people.

The problem today is now, socially anxious and histrionics are ignored in accommodation of homosexuals. I also explained the middle ground of conditioning which many people use to conflate homosexuals among socially anxious and histrionics.

(Looking at your sig, I'm wondering if it's possible for you not to be hostile on this topic. This is a serious issue.)

I feel that this thread doesn't have a real purpose, so it is closed.

Whether or not the meaning of it has been changed it really quite pointless.
