Alright I know I am a little stuck on this but it is importent to me...
Can someone please explain to me, why it would be such a bad thing to remove religion from all goverment buildings and functions? Honestly I want to hear your answers....
Understand that in privet companys... like Microsoft, Comcast, most law firms, would not be affected.... niether would homes or chruches, Atheists don't want religion to be removed from this planet. (while that may not be a bad thing in my mind) Just that we have a say and are giveing what is owed us...

First of all What kind of atheist are you? I know many atheists who don't believe in any "God" at all and those who believe in a God as in the first essence/matter/whatever created the universe and don't believe in a "religious" God. What kind are you?

I don't think a god in any way shape or form exists... or ever has...

removing religion is simple

it allows people to hope, and dream, and think of an existence better than this one

revolutionary people who can motivate typically are of this sort

that is why both modern communism and capitalism remove and bearte religion

it is in order to protect their repsective regimes from future usurption

what created the universe then?
Natural physical forces, of course.

As you should know, the general concensus among scientists is that the Big Bang resulted in our universe (though there are a handful that have postulated infinite universe theories like the quasi-steady state theory and plasma cosmology). Actually, according to the big bang theory, the universe didn't have a "beginning" per se, since this would violate the law of conservation of energy/matter.

Do some research on basic big bang cosmology and you'll find your answer.

Well, you've got to think about religion and what it's about to understand why it's removed from governmental buildings.

Religion cannot be proven in any sort of physical or scientific sense, it is mainly built upon faith. This faith is alway's wavering as our the ideas that are behind religion. Not to long ago women were persecuted because in their "religion" they must remain idle to the husband. Heck that still happens today. I know we know that the persecution of women is bad today, but now we face the issues of gay and lesbian rights, many of which is suppressed under a variety of religions. It all just comes down to this -- religion is just a belief, and to have a belief that can not be proven or cannot be agreed on by everyone should not govern over everyone. So if you want to put Jesus in the court house, then think of putting Zeus or Buddha into the court too, just because they're not popular doesn't mean they're wrong.

Actually I've thought about this for a fair bit and I've come to the conclusion that we are living in a computer generated universe. It matchs all observable facts, and also fits in with many 'God theories' of creation. It accounts for miracles and is also mathematicly probable.

As to religion and government, I think the two should be kept seperate. I have also read that the early Church (Catholic) also thought that religion and government should be kept seperate but then the Roman leaders converted and well.

Yes america was formed on what is considered Christian ideals... but those christian ideals are shared by the vast majority of other religions... which in my mind transfers itself into "ethics" the Christian ideals are simply good ethics, and there for do not need to be removed... what I am talking about is haveing a presidant who uses biblacal quotes to try a persuade people into fallowing him... either that or he really believes it.... both are scary to me.. the thing is I know quite a few people who support bush for no other reason then "he is christan" that kind of blind faith leads to the end of civilastion and allows for extreame crimes to happen.... Holocost anyone?
religion should have no place on the lips of a political leader, not while he is on the record... it should be cold hard studyed facts and nothing else....
