Materialism - nothing exists beyond energy and matter (material), and as such, material is what influences everything that goes on within our world. This is the basis of Marxism.

The proletariat must pursue its own material ends and bring about the dictatorship of the proletariat and an end to the capitalist mode of production, just as the bourgeois class did to the feudal one before it.
