You know what I mean... things your momma made you when you was a kid and money was tight.
for me it's gotta be either bangers and mash or tuna casserole

I read this as White Thrash Metal... i r disappoint.
I like cheese toasties done in a proper sandwich toaster which forms your toast into two neat triangles filled with melted cheese hot enough to rival the temperature at the sun's core.
I also enjoyed my mum's Stovies, which is proper ration food, she'd often make enough to keep us going for a week.

I totally read this as "white trash metal" and I was so ready! I ate a lot of pastaroni and hamburger helper as a kid and I remember it all fondly. My grandma also made the best kugel ever, she would make so much of it when she came over and then we would eat it all throughout the week. Ooh, or "potato soup". I'm pretty sure it was just potatoes, salt, pepper and butter. You cooked it down forever until it was all mushy and I'd eat the shit out of that stuff.
i'm in with the disappointed crowd who can't read

Describing a meal such as that should be a bannable offense.

Where I come from (Stoke-on-Trent in the UK), the traditional poor meal is a stew called lobby, which is the cheapest end (scrag-end) of beef or mutton (mainly the fat) in a thin, watery gravy with chopped onions, carrots, swede, spud or whatever's handy. You have it with a big stack of white sliced bread. Yum.

Weird how so many people misread the thread title as thrash metal. I did too.

Mustard sandwiches. Just mustard and bread...
Dry Top Ramen. I don't like cooking those things, just smash them up, put the seasoning in it, shake it up, and you have a great meal. Wow money was tight lol!
