Hitler, who called communism "judeo-bolshevism", was a Communist?! The French Revolution and Robespierre, ONE OF THE FUCKING BOURGEOIS REVOLUTIONS is communist?!!

No you don't understand, the French Revolution was collectivist! They collectively tried to do something, which obviously will always lead to the beheading of children. Now the American Revolution was something completely different, it was a bunch of individuals showing up on the battlefield spontaneously who by complete coincidence were all there to kill British soldiers by God's divine Justice. Why can't you commies understand this?

But anyways, this is nothing new as far as Beck is concerned. Infact on the whole right-wing end of things particularily in the United States, there had always been a mindset that Communism always represented totalitarian evil and was not actually different from Naziism (or as they tried to make it sound respectable in academia, "Horseshoe Theory"). For example, on wikipedia for a long time some of the right wingers tried to have "national socialism" put into the broader socialism infobox and project. This was spearheaded by some internet personality then (can't remember his name) bringing up bogus evidence like Beck did.

However the crux of these arguments really is that they want to tie all of this back to the "liberals", ie the Democratic Party- both Beck and the guy I mentioned before fall into this camp. It's been a long ambition by right-wingers to tie "progressive" liberalism to communism by way of social democratic movements, and they try to present this as the natural conclusion of Comrade Obama's plan to transform the United States into a dystopian communist dictatorship.
