Since it is looking like imperialist war is looming once more, coming closer and closer in the Middle East again, I thought a discussion about what war is, would be fitting:

The Miriam Dictionary defines war as "A state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state."
This is, in fact, a cloak over the actual material reality and significance of what war really is. War can correctly only be defined by armed combat of states, and hence distinguishes itself from armed conflict or fight significantly.

War is in reality one mass of people, who have no material self interest in killing; killing another mass of people who as well have no material benefit in killing, destroying, burning and risking their lives.

I think that in your brief explanation you demonstrated that war has several, if not many, true definitions.

i would rather say it like clauzevitz: War is the continuation of politics by other means.

the spectrum dosnt really matter; physical violence organized by the state are mostly political actions.
