Adidas just pulled this from its marketplace:

These sneakers were designed by fashion designer Jeremy Scott. They have evoked some outrage from people who deem the shoe offensive and slavery-glorifying.
Personally, I wouldn't wear these sneakers, but I don't see why this has sparked so much outrage. It's a sneaker. I think the name Slave is what is really sparking outrage. Maybe Adidas can donate the sneakers to the actual slaves who put the shoes together. It's funny that some bullshit like this will will spark the attention of some professional victims, but the real life injustice of oversea sweatshops go on without boycott or outrage.

its a very odd looking sneaker.
I don't see how it glorifies slavery. I guess in a way it glorifies shackles, which have been used for a lot of reasons that weren't slavery. though none of the reasons have been good...

Ugliest sneakers I've seen in a while. Fucking hideous, with or without the chain.

What demographic do you think Adidas was going for with this design?
That said, I'm with you on there being some far more abominable things going on in the world at the moment that urgently need action to be taken. Sweatshops are hell.

What? That would mean we would have to stop exploiting people for a moment and let them enjoy what they where forced to produce! If I dident know any better I would say you think capitalism is a horrible broken system of slaves and masters and that we would be far better off without it.
How do so few people ever even talk about sweatshops? Do they just prefer to forget that their sneakers and Iphone where produced useing slave labor? Better yet why isn't there any action to put an end to them?

Slavery and prisoner chain gangs.
But do notice that the color of the shackles is reminiscent of gold. Maybe the intended connotation is "enslaved by wealth".
In any case, this is really in bad taste.

Talk about the legacy of cultural imperialism.
