Recently voters in Washington State passed a law that allowed the liquor industry to be privatized. There was an elaborate ad campaign, largely sponsored by large chain stores such as CostCo, that promised privatization would lead to a decrease in prices. Well, surprise surprise, several months on the cost of liquor has skyrocketed. Many brands have more than doubled in price since privatization placing a strain on small, locally owned restaurants and bars. It seems the good ol' free market has saved the day once again.:thumbdown:
