Oi,
So I'm actually following through on my plans to come to Europe after months of saying I would.
Imma be in flying into London about the 4th of July. I will be in London for Bloc weekender on the 6th and 7th.
So yeah, I basically have no plans. At all.
So far all I know is I will be making my way across Europe over the space of maybe 3 months from London, UK to Ankara, Turkey (from where I will be flying home).
I have no clue where I will be staying or what I will be seeing or anything yet. As such I AM OPEN TO ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS. Got any ideas of good stuff to see or do or how to get about or how to do stuff on the cheap or where to stay or what not to do or good eats or ANYTHING AT ALL just throw it out there.
If you live in anywhere Europe (minus Spain, Portugal, France or Scandanavia) and want to either meet up for a drink or a day out or would be willing to give me a bed for a night or even suggest some accomodation of any other kind - CONTACT ME.
PM me here or email me if you know my email or call me if you know my mobile.
Nic.
P.S. Been a while since I been to thise forum so for newbies who don't recognise me, you are welcome to reply aswell.
For the vets, even if you don't like me or youre a stalinist nut job hit me up anyway hey

I've been meaning to go round the British museum for a while now. Haven't been since I was a kid and I'd say that's a must see tourist attraction. Britain has stolen some cool shit over the years :p
I'm not working so if you fancy doing that I'm free anytime
oh yeah also I'm probably going to the opera in a few weeks time with another comrade. It's not as bourgie as it sounds no dress code and shit and at £10 a ticket it's a cheap nights entertainment. We'll probably be seeing Porgy and Bess you're welcome to join us.
Museums and Opera I'm so cool

I wish I could give you a bed, but being 16 and living at home in a 2 bedroom flat doesn't help. :D As for places to stay, I have no idea what would be cheapest. Olympics are starting soon so it'd be best to avoid coming at that time 'cause the hotels are gonna probably all gonna be packed and you won't be able to get from one side of London to the other in under a day what with all the traffic and everything. If the Occupy lot were still at St Paul's then that would be a good place to stay and get free food (the Hare Krishna lot were giving out curry and it looked pretty nice).
Go to Spain and Greece. There are potential revolutionary situations there. Also go to Switzerland and Austria. The mountains are glorious.

Cool yup will do. Makes sense.

I've never been to the opera. I'm willing to listen to the idea for sure.

I don't think there are 'potentially revolutionary situations' in Spain or Greece. I think anyone who does is living in a fantasy land.
Besides, I'm not some tourist of revolution.

Wasn't on the top of my list. Appreciate the suggestion. I may spend some time in the north of Italy, at the foot of the alps. Maybe.

Because it's far away, and would add extra expense and time in an already long and expensive trip. Pretty much.
Too be honest I would actually really like to. Infact, I think more than wanting to visit Scandinavia I'd rather live there I think. It's a pretty quiet and very nice corner of the world. I like quiet and I like nice.
If anyone is willing to convince me I should come, you are welcome to.

I think they'd be more offended you're not visiting the (former) Soviet motherland. Plus you're white as fuck so the neo-nazis won't pick on you.
No but seriously. The motherland calls.

Porgy and Bess is probably one of the easiest opera's if you're not into opera. It's even known as the people's opera ;)

Yeah, why not visit Russia, the Nordics, or even Baltics? Some of the greatest sight-seeing on earth, mate.
But I'd suggest Austria, Hungary, and Romania on firsthand country-hopping experience, especially Hungary. :thumbup1:
Hungary's beautiful in the summer time, Lake Balaton's less than an hour drive from Croatia. Lots of great Hungarian opera, some even open-air operas, too. Check out the Gyula, Hungary area near Romanian border...
Great region.
Happy trails!

Can't offer a place to sleep sadly, but otherwise it's game on! I'm sure there are other comrades with places to stay over though :)

Yeah, it's totally free from fascists as well.

Well that depends on the individual group. Some Nazis in Germany have been known to kick the shit out of Greeks (not always considered "pure" however), Italians and even Americans. Not all Nazis are "whitez unite 14/88!!!!", a lot of them are focused more on their own country/race than Europe as a whole.

I thought I made that clear already. I don't have the time/money to make it a viable trip.

Thanks for the suggestions - this is actually quite helpful. Any advice on what to see/where to stay in Austria? Any advice about traversing Hungary and Romania - keep in mind I am a naive 20 year old with only English.
