So, what's everybody blowing their music through? It's time for me to ante up and get new sound. Problem is I'm kinda at a loss... I'm pretty old skool.. a young dinosaur from the days of rack systems, individual components and floor speakers that also serve as end tables... (hors d'œuvre anyone?) Everything out there seems to be mini shelf systems with EQ built-ins designed around ipod docks--- yikes!!!

so, what do you got? and any recommendations?

I got myself a pair of these back when I got my tax return.

And for now, that's about it. No headphone amp. No soundcard. Those I'll get sometime in the more-distant-than-near future. I'll probably build my own speakers before I pick up a headphone amp.

My friend turning me into an audiophile was one of the worst things that ever happened to me.

Yeah..once you hear music the way it was recorded. it's pretty much impossible to compromise on.

Interesting!!! (and expensive, eh? I was actually waiting for someone to say BOSE!!)
I had headphones like that once-upon-a-time, but mine were basically to play back what I was recording from my guitar.

Are you planning to hook that up through a computer then, if you need a sound card?

I wanted to rip all of my skin off when I looked through my old-ass MP3 library and found that almost everything was ~128 kbps.

Life is suffering.

Yeah I usually have it hooked up to my computer. Sometimes my phone. I actually thought it'd be funny to make a little attachment for my belt so I can carry around a headphone amp while listening through the phone. I thought it was a joke but it turns out people actually walk around like that in earnest.

So yeah.

Before this I had a pair of cheap-o sennheiser's (sennheiser HD 202) which I'd STRONGLY reccommend to anyone who wants some quality headphones without going over 100 USD. They were about 20 when I got them on sale and they're normally 25-30.

Nice so they didn't get blown out?

They did not. I had another scare though. Thought I got water in them for some reason.

I'm just fuckin neurotic.
