Conflict

One of the things that got me interested in Socialism and leftist politics was listening to the George Galloway radio show. I had never heard anyone on radio or tv say the things he was saying and i was amazed. What is your opinion of 'Gorgeous George'?

I share most of his views and his anti-war activism has been great. Second rate person though.

i quite like him.
at least he had enough savvy to tell the war criminal and prostitute tony blair where to go.
he talks of caring about the labour movement in a way that i believe is genuine....as genuine as a politician can ever be....
he has charisma and takes risks and would make a reasonable leader..... if we kept an eye on him....at least he is not scared of the notion of socialism

I think he deserves a fair bit of...'Respect'. :D
I really enjoyed his infamous appearance in the U.S. Senate. He also deserves credit for his support for Palestinians over the years and his opposition to imperialist wars.
If nothing else, he's a fantastic speaker.
Here in Canada, his temporary ban from entry by the Harper government certainly got the anti-war movement some attention. Socialist/Communist, that he is not, but if there was ever hope for an MP in a bourgeois parliament to some day be won over to the communist cause, it would be him long before anyone else.

I like some things he says -- and hate other things.
entertaining to listen to, at the least.

I am really put off by his support of Hamas and Saddam Hussein.

He aided in awakening my radicalism, but I really don't like a lot of his positions. A lot of really basic issues, like marijuana and violent video games, he takes the position of some moron conservative super parent.

The way he destroys Paulbots is entertaining.

He is, as they say, a self-made man who worships his creator.

i respect and admire him. he's principled and courageous. i like the fact that he defends the muslim community even though i'm atheist. the way he handles the bourgeois press is also hilarious.

Entertaining up to a point, some valid and interesting views and the Senate confrontation almost gave me wood. However, he is a self-important prick, revels in being the 'outsider' and definately throws support behind some questionable causes (cosying up to muslim groups by not speaking out on anti-gay issues).

Galloway, like Chomsky, are gateway drugs for young potential commies. That stint on Big Brother made him look a right idiot though.

George galloway has many admirable attributes. His tireless work on behalf of the palestinians stretching back to the 1970's is well known in most leftist and non leftist circles. He has been involved in many admirable campaigns for justice in other areas too including cuba, venezuela, iraqi sanctions in the 1990's, miriam appeal etc and his courageous performance in the US senate in 2005 was legendary. His weakness is that he has an enormous ego and is prone to publicity seeking ie big brother fiasco 2006, appearing on celebrity chat shows. Despite his faults i kinda like him but not too much!!

Good orator, but avowedly Old Labour and not a socialist as he freely admits. He and the SWP deserve each other.

My opinion? Thinly veiled dislike. I suppose he has his good sides but there is much in his politics I find strongly objectionable. Also his cat imitation is shit.

Who are "the huns" that you're referring to? I'm assuming that you're not referring to the Hunnic Empire of the 4th century.

He means Loyalists, although the term can be a more general a slur for Protestant, so that it probably wasn't a very elegant way of putting it.
