I swear this isn't gonna be as gross as it sounds (well, maybe), and I'm sorry to ask Revleft of all places but it's not something I wanna shout on my facebook and I tried searching the internetz already and it told me it's ghosts so...
I've been waking up lately with scratches on my arms and upper shoulders. If they were little and insignificant I'd assume I had something itchy I needed to sort out during the night and it's no big deal. But these are big honkin' lines across my skin that are still bleeding when I wake and hurt for a day and a half til they heal over. WTF, sleep-self.
It's not some paranormal bullshit and I don't think it's an allergic reaction to anything, so am I suffering some neurosis, here? Like, is there a psychological reason I could be clawing myself during the night? And is there a way to make it stop? Kind of irritating waking up like this...
TIA.

It may be tinias versicola. Its an actual skin fungus which originates in the scalp and can spread though out the body. It lives off human sweat.I have this myself actually. Its no big deal but it can itch like crazy.Selsun blue medicated shampp is very effective in treating this.

I could be wrong of course. If you feel its psycho-somatic you may want to see a therapist. My hunch though is that its tinea v.

Also, since it summer time, it could be bed bugs. Or, if you were prescribed medication such as Adderall or any-other medication that has methadone, it could cause scratching. Me personally, I have Atopic Dermatitis and it causes my skin to itch frequently.

Drink a shot of apple cider viniger once in the morn and again at night. This will help cleanse your system. Call a priest and let the good times roll!

I'm not itchy. lol
I've begun having dreams along with it. For instance, the other night I dreamed I was battling a devil for the souls of my loved ones. I was sitting on his chest and stabbing him, and every time, another horn would grow out of his head. Woke up with scratches all over my stomach. So I'm gonna go with me being batshit crazy as the cause.
Reckon I could descend a staircase backwards on my hands?

Some people move around a lot in their sleep. If you have long nails it is entirely possible you could accidentally scratch yourself while asleep. Try trimming your nails and see if it stops.
Also check your bed for sharp objects, that you might be catching on in your sleep.
If you eliminate these two possibilities then it is probably aliens and you have a duty to science to rig up a camera and film yourself while sleeping to catch them in the act.
Maybe it's something in your bed?
Check it for anything that could cut / scratch you.

Switching beds for the night would probably solve this part of the mystery for you...
