If the revolution occured, in the form you'd want in your respective country, would you want to re-name your country? If you were somehow in charge of this, what would you re-name it?

Current offical name: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Or: People's Republic of Engerlandshire

I always wondered what it would be like to live in a nation-state with a funky name like the "Captaincy-General of Venezuala" or the "Despotate of Epirus" or "Attelid Pergamon" or the " Caliphate of Cordoba",although probably many country's official names today will sound than a little loopy to people of the future.

For now, I'd settle for "Socialist Republics of North America", at least transitionally, until the revolution is global.

All the countries which were called "People's Republics" had large (if not majority-sized) peasant populations, so I don't think that the term is really acceptable anymore. Democratic Republic was either an appeal to unity (the DPRK contrasted to South Korea, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam contrasted to South Vietnam, the GDR contrasted to West Germany) or a provisional thing (e.g. the Democratic Government of Albania, which existed from October 1944 to January 1946.)

I think most states would title themselves Socialist Republics, just like the Russian Socialist Federative Republic was titled. As Lenin pointed out, it meant that such states aspire towards socialism.
