I've noticed these come in handy sometimes.
i.e. if you want to sign up but don't want the spam, want the anonymity or whatever else, there are many sites out there that offer a disposable email so you can use it and not officially register it... Therefore, not using the same email address and it is not tracked back to you.
I can not link things but here are the disposable email sites I like:
guerillamail.org
guerrillamail.com
(Yes, the above two are different)
and dispostable.com is decent as well.
