So, apparently, the final epic (Known as Paradise Lost, taking from Odyssey, the Divine Comedy and so forth) is finally getting it's own movie in 2013. Took a long enough while! But whether or not Hollywood will bastardize the epic remains to be seen. (They seem to bastardize Doctor Seuss more so - just looking at the Lorax one can be disgusted on how they missed the point of Capitalism destroying everything and being motivated by the aspect of needing 'more' capital.)

However, what do you guys think on both the Epic Poem (Paradise Lost) and the fact a movie will be soon coming out?

When we read this my senior year in high school, I got some very angry stares when I said Satan is the obvious hero of the story.

I'm sure the movie will be terrible. They'll try to make a non-religious religious movie.

Will it contain Christopher Walken?

I'm not kidding though, paradise lost as a "the prophecy" prequel would awsome.. book some stupid hot eyecandy as adam&eve and let a bunch of long hairded class a actors thunder away in the devil vs angel roles. Even seeing victor mortensen back as lucifer would be sweet.

Getting Ian mckellen to narrate it would be pushing it i guess "of man's first disobedience and the fruit of that forbidden tree" is a great opening line for a epic though, whether a hundreds year old poem or a 2013 movie..
Who's directing? They should go silly and give it to guillermo del torro or someone like that...

Yea the movie will suck ass if Satan isn't made the hero.

This is what's found on wikipedia - though little information around it to begin with.
Paradise Lost (2013), 2013 movie adaption of the John Milton poem starring Bradley Cooper and directed by Alex Proyas.

I wish Tony Jay was still alive..he could have been a great narrator.

Possibly because word hasn't got out about this film.

Seems the studio actually scrapped the whole project in february: http://collider.com/paradise-lost-cancelled-bradley-cooper/144107/
Shame, Alex proyas "darkcity" is one of my favorite movies and the fact he referenced & quoted paradise lost several times in "the crow" makes me actually having some faith in him not cocking it up.

That's shitty. All of the Epic Poems except the final seem to get their debut.

I do hope sometime they actually make a Paradise Lost movie instead of most of the crap we have, would be better than the Avengers.

Satan's OK, but he's just a Shakespeare villain with superpowers. Iago with a cape.

Wasn't my favorite "canonical" work. I'll wait for the Canterbury Tales HBO series that I'm sure will happen at some point.
