Long time in the making which will likely go beyond to the UN superior courts for the clear violation of human rights... yet, considering what is law in many African countries it seems unlikely the UN can really do anything.Still, there is always the hope that this will produce results.

One question, though. Why 100 years? Just... Why?! Does Russia really give a rat's patootie what gay rights activists will be doing 99 years from now? And when the date rolls over into the 100th year of the oppression, do the twisted and discriminatory "morals" of those who pushed for the ban expire as well? It's not far fetched to speculate that this decision will be overturned before the date rolls around.

Note; I believe it will first go to the European court (russia is a member of the European declaration of humanrights) and that court does rule in favor of gayrights on a regular basis...

Well i heard an old homophobic pastor asking the gay to be put in a camp until they ''die out''.

My guess is this putin and his buddies think being gay is contagious, if we stop the parade it will cut down the number of people becoming gay, and in 100 years russia will be gay-free.

Council of Europes rulings (If thats the organisation I think your referring too) are non binding and are regularly ignored such as the ruling on abortion rights in Ireland.
