it is kind of weird to see all the racism on 4chan's /pol/ board, and to see anonymous do something like this.

It's only a matter of time before Anonymous is deemed a "Zionist conspiracy" of some sorts hellbent on destroying the white race.

The racism usually seen on 4chan and so is not of the serious variety, they just love provoking people and making fun of "forbidden" topics. They also post gore, does not mean that they actually want to slaughter people.

true, they mostly troll. but i also feel like i am reading post that could easily be mistaken for sincere if posted on a right-wing website.

Also anonymous is not homogeneous. Everyone seems to call themselves anonymous.

Also, I think Anonymous has kind of divorced from 4chan now.

But yeah, the racism on 4chan is mostly non-serious I think.

4chan racism is about a serious as xbox racism: it's 12-16 year old boys trying to be "edgy"

Ever hang with 12-16 year old boys? We're talkin people not to far removed from shitting their pants and having mom's clean it up. What could be more "edgy" than that? DiaperGrandad, you listening?

They released a data dump of PMs etc. which probably will prove useful to anti-fa folks willing to dig through it.

That's /b/. Not /pol/. /pol/ is legit full of Neo-Nazis.

Both are anonymous...has any proof come up that the racist, misogynist, homophobic douchebags on /pol/ are for real while they aren't on /b/? I find it hard to believe.

o well this is ok I guess

But they probably constitute a small fraction of /b/'s total traffic.

Because "Anonymous" isn't doing it.
Someone who frequents on 4chan is, and saying Anonymous did it.
And trying to give Anon more connotations and ties to the left anti-Nazis when they really aren't (they aren't anything, as they aren't a political group).

Fuck people who try to give Anonymous an extra meaning, and make them seem like some political operatives and hacktivists.
These are not real Anons and do not get the concept of it.

P.S. Anonymous is not a "hacking group" like a lot of people say. I have visited the *chan sites and other Anon sites for years and 99.9% of them don't know shit about a software and a home computer, let alone a server system. They just say it based on that Fox propaganda clip.

It's def. groups taking up the mantle of Anonymous doin it though. You're right that they just don't have much of a connection to 4chan at all, though. At least, not anymore.

All posts were deleted from the site, all PMs were exposed, all members names were posted online...not sure what else could be defined as "amusing"...

So far Anonymous has released a massive .sql database file of nearly 80 megabytes in size that contains information on Aryan-Front that was stolen in the attack. The data has been posted to the file-sharing website MediaFire and journalists and self-proclaimed Anons alike are currently mulling through the data dump for more insight into the organization.

Preliminary research reveals that one of the first pieces of text included in the .sql file are a message from an administrator of the website to another that reads:

Aside from that we should be able to make this board work as long as there is no security problems (I hope).

From there, the document becomes littered with racist quips and anecdotes, as well as a copy of The National Socialist doctrine, which includes items such as “We believe that Adolf Hitler was the gift of an inscrutable Providence to a world on the brink of Jewish-Bolshevik catastrophe, and that only the blazing spirit of this heroic man can give us the strength and inspiration to rise from the depths of persecution and hatred, to bring the world a new birth of radiant idealism, realistic peace, international order and social justice for all men.”

Elsewhere, Aryan-Front members make candid comments about race, often digressing into discussing the security they implement in their Web surfing to protect themselves from cyberattacks.

“If my ISP gets a court order to release my internet records all they can determine is the times I was online, the bits tranferred and the fact that I visited an anonymous proxy service in a foreign country that … does not keep any logs!” one writes. “In other words the jews get shit.”

Other dialogues released in the database dump divulge conversations about firearms that are often interlaced with tips for cybersecurity.

Isn't anyone who calls himself Anon anon? Like...isn't that the point of Anon? Or is there an anon manifesto out there I'm not aware of?

No, you are correct... there is no anon manifesto or anything like that...

But people act like there is some "underground hacker group" called Anonymous that is doing it... When, like I said, it's just one person who calls themselves anonymous- not some underground hacker group.

Then everyone is like "zOMG 4chan did it". It's so ridiculous.

Does it matter if 4-Chan racism is 'serious or not'? Completely misses the point entirely.

I don't know why everyone is assuming that /b/ = anonymous. /b/ is more or less a fan club if that and a complete shit hole that attracts all sorts of people.

Who else is annoyed by out of touch journalists talking about anonymous like they're some sort of vigilante hacktivist group, let alone an actual organization at all? There is no organization called anonymous. The name comes from people posting on anonymous imageboards such as 4chan.

Anonymous is a banner, as has been stated, anybody can be anonymous if they choose to become involved, and involvement can be pretty broad.
For example: A lot folks marching in the #opBART actions were local anarchists who had a bone to pick with bart, for killing people like oscar grant and charles hill, not primarily because BART censored a protest by shutting off cell phone service, and never really "identified" as "anonymous". mostly different people were involved with trying (unsuccessfully) to take down BART.gov and hacking and releasing all of the names and info of bart officers.

Anonymous has become a useful and powerful banner to do these sort of cyber-attack and hacktivist (sic) actions.
