Here in Portugal a law is being discussed in parlaiment, the new status of the student. They want to change the status of the student so the schools can more easily expell, transfer to other school, transfer to other class, etc, as disciplinary measures, when these disciplinary measures are applied the school has to fine the parent responsible for the student.

So, basicaly, this law says that, "If you missbehave your parents have to pay us with money".

This is a fascist law, it takes us back to the time of dictatoship. In this time of economic crisis when one does not have enough money to last untill the end of the month, if this law is aproved it will make it even worse.

The portuguese people don't care untill it directly afects them, if a law that says portuguese television cannot show football were to be aproed, then there would be big protests.

They have aproved other fascist laws to schools, but my english vocabulary is limited, so I don't know how to explain the other laws.

Seems like everything is "fascist" nowadays.

But yeah, sounds like what the education bureaucrats have wanted for a while as many often forget that student life is as horrid as it is because of the lack of student unions and the bourgeoisie's unrelenting domination over the educational process. For the longest time they have been squashing anything which might give the students some breathing room. This latest bill seems to be another such assault one aimed at quickly expelling potential union rabble rousers.
