Does anyone watch his show? It has to be THE best American show for politics and general discussions.
Here is a sample of the program.

I watch his show quite often. I like the way he goes about interviews and generally enjoy the show. Also, the guest selection is really good. You get people who generally more qualified to be talking about the subjects they're talking about than the people who make the rounds on the 24 news shows.
Honestly, the format of the show (the stillness, the black background) just...makes it all seem sort of creepy/sleep-inducing/I don't know. And I've only seen a couple seconds of the show.

Yeah actually it's nice sometimes to hear ruling class people argue their views in depth. It's more insight than the "show" that these reps do for working class consumption on FOX and CNN and whatnot. Elite newspapers and the Economist are similar - it's a better glimpse at what some of these econ and policy wonks are really about.
Charlie Rose needs to shut the fuck up though - he asks questions and then half-way through the answer he interrupts and gives his opinion on the question based on what some other guest told him once.
Some of the entertainment interviews are pretty good though. Viggo Mortenseen wore an anti-war shirt while promoting the Two Towers because he said he was angry that people kept calling it an allegory for the "War of Terror". He argued that the Afghanistan people are "the hobbits" whose world is threatened by an apocalyptic force, not the people of the US. Also Bill Murray's interview - this was maybe 10 years ago but it was hilarious and Bill just talked over or ignored Rose's knowitall-isms.

It's like they only think NPR is "truer" and "more in-depth" than FOX because of its monotone newsreaders and the sad-sounding broken horns in-between segments. God I have a roommate who listens to NPR 24 hours a day and it drives me nuts - I almost forgot how shitty the arguments of mainstream liberalism are and then I hear them blaring at me through the wall.
