Sorry, I could only find video's in Spanish. I'm not sure he does many interviews in English. The best resource that I have found for speeches/interviews from Castro is Here (http://lanic.utexas.edu/project/castro/) up until 1996, that is.

jeez, all this hostility! put all that negativity to something productive, instead of tossing unwarrented insults around.

Because he's not a socialist, he's a nationalist bastard. Cuba is NOT socialist. Castro resides over that country with an iron fist and a Stalinist bureaucracy. He has never attempted to bring through a complete revolution in Cuba.

Be that as it may, you're probably not going to have very much sucess ranting about it here. Most of the people are either adamently pro or anti castro. so you're preaching to the converted on one side, and trying to change people's deep rooted opinions on the other side. If you want to make change, you could find more constructive ways of doing it, rather than by using outright insulting comments. Anyway, no point arguing, lets just try and stay civil...

So, absolutely no allowance for him ?... With the Yanks' land just 5 miles off them, getting all its allies to boycott Cuba, discrediting its human rights condition (but still not recognised by the UN), econ. embargoes, etc... ?
He is having a hard time, put yourself in the situation~ I think he has done a lot keep it as socialist as possible. Think in his shoes, put yourself in the condition, don't just lambaste for lambaste 's sake ~
Read "An encounter with Fidel Castro" an interview by Gianni Mina.
(A 15 straight hour interview.)

Read my replies in the thread January 8th in Ernesto "Che" Guevara.

I notice you say nothing about those that say "Viva Castro!". To anyone who can see Castro for what he is and what he stands for, that is outright insulting.

I do make allowances for him. I gave completely unconditional but CRITICAL support to Cuba. I defend the gains made by the Cuban Revolution to the end but unlike so many disillusioned individuals here, I don't hero worship Castro or Che because both would never have carried through a socialist revolution because both were politically Stalinists and could only ever create a bureaucracy and never a socialist state. The left is too quick to hero worship whatever "leftist" politician comes into a position of power such as Castro and more recently, Lula and Chavez.

Castro wasn't a Stalinist. The need for protection from the Soviet Union was the only thing that made Castro have any sort of association with Stalinism. If you read, Castro is very critical of Stalin. I honestly don't think Fidel gave a damn about any specific ideology(Many leaders, especiall of his kind don't), he was just a nationalist.

Learn Spanish. Simple. I've seen some of his interviews and speeches on spanish networks. Nothing really special about it, he's not a good speaker.
So long as he has the majority support of the Cuban people, FUCK YOU!
What makes you think he has the support of the Cuban people?

Isn't that the truth. The largest theatre in Havana is called the Karl Marx Theatre......that should tell you something. He rules with an iron fist and will continue to until he dies.
