View Full Version : Weird Jehovah's Witnesses animation

So a particularly odd religious sect decided to produce a bad animation involving a boy and his mother. The boy comes home with a wizard toy, so the mom tells him that it's bad because it will upset Jehovah. The boy then has a vision of a snake (the devil I assume) and the wizard toy. He throws it out and they go for a bike ride. It's a really weird and somewhat disturbing.

There's still time for you to get rid of your wizard toy collection though

This has to be a parody, right? Don't they realise just how messed up the mother sounds, like some crazy cult memb....oh, yeah.

I had two friends in high school who were JWs. They didn't seem to be particularly happy people.

My partner's mother is a JW and she is as happy as can be... is also an ultra-reactionary though so our relationship is a secret... anywho, yeah, JW are, generally, fucked up individuals; some prime cult action in that sect.

Mother: "MAGICK IS BAD. THAT'S WHY JEHOVA HAETS IT."
...
Mother: "I WANNA GO RIDE BIKES!"
Child: "YEY"
Mother: "LET'S GO!"

This is really embarrassing and unsettling.

Creepy, but not as creepy as this:

Come to think of it, this one looks embarrassingly simliar to the "banned" cartoon about mormonism mentioned in another thread (http://www.revleft.com/vb/mormonismi-t169930/index.html). In fact, it was even lampshaded in the youtube poop version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YcC-pK5zMg) of the later.

Is there just some firm that makes shitty/creepy cartoon indoctrination videos for popularized cults or something?

Ya, don't these people know that once a Wizard has cast a level 7 Snake spell that throwing out the Wizard will do nothing? I mean c'mon people what kind of god would keep that type of info from you? I'll tell you what kind. The kind that also runs off to the ancient Americas to reveal secrets to ancient peoples that you will one day slaughter. Irony and secrets. Who's more fucked up the crazy level 7 spell thowing Wizard or Jehova? Answer, keep the Wizard, at least you know where you stand with him.

PS: that's gotta be some of the most plastic dialogue I've ever heard (I'm betting even the toy has less plastic than the characters.)

Hell, John Freeman had more realistic and convincing dialogue than these characters do.

Does anyone else get these people at their door every other week?

A family of Jehovah's witnesses lived down the street from the last apartment I lived in. They were stopping by once a week, like clockwork. This went on for a couple of months. It was extremely irritating.

Usually they come like three times a year, dropping their doomsday leaflets in my mail-drop. Last time I shouted at them to take their insane rubbish away. I wanted to be more clever - accuse them of being accomplices of Satan and what have you - but I get too angry to restrain myself enough, too nervous to speak coherently...

OMG how can they hate snakes?!...but seriously JW are in no way an innocent insignificant sect/cult.

They are harsh, especially if you want to leave the sect.

My cousin was born as a JW (via his mum) and when he was 14-16ish he left the cult. They where scumbags to him for it and made him feel like the worst kind of traitor for doing what was his right. Afterwards for the remainder of his life, he had problems with his mental health, and subsequently committed suicide in his mid 20s.

I cannot blame JW solely for him doing that but i'm certain they had a huge part to play. True trajedy and I miss him. RIP:(

I had a Jehovah's Witness friend back in the day. Playing Halo 2 at his house was doubly fun because I had to find a way to hide the xbox on a moment's notice if his mom ever came down stairs. We actually had to include momterruptions in our game mechanics.

I have them stuck on why the Bible should mean anything to me, let alone their interpretation of it. I guess they're used to going to the doors of people who have at least some vague respect for the book.

But they think only less than 200,000 can be saved, so I don't know why they even look for converts anymore. Just to be annoying? Or... well I guess it's possible they're a rather small cult.

Are these the same people who put together the Davey and Goliath cartoon/claymation things back in the day?

Update: Nope these people are Lutherans. Heathens!

Someone has to pay their tithe, clean the rectory and do the dishes don't they?

The video cartoon is very realistic, IMHO. I've known a fair amount of Christian fundis who think just that way. I've known people who freaked out about Halloween or even taking the garbage out on Sunday.I've also (briefly) had a room mate who was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. He was also struggling with transgenderism. He supposedly broke away from the religion he was raised in but he was struggling with guilt and shame and because of this he became a hardcore alcoholic. He got to the point where he was dangerous to himself and others.I've seen the JW cult screw up others as well.

The cartoon indoctrination is sad. I can only hope that kid will be able to find the tools to enable himself to break out of his family's cult when he comes of age.

144000, to be precise.

Though to answer your question: Same reason Harold Camping's cult looked actively for god's "Elect" even though their pseudo-Calvinistism clearly says they're just that: Predetermined elect.

Because they want money.

And why do people even buy it then if there's already more than 144000 believers? Part of the same reason people still cling to capitalism despite it being a horrible, broken system: They think they can "become" one of the 144000 if they believe hard enough, just like people think they can go from rags to riches if they "work hard enough"

... except with c(r)apitalism there actually is a >0.000000000000000000000000001% chance you can actually do that, whereas with JW you automatically lose from the beginning since it's just plain bullshit.

They both suck though. Obviously.

who wouldn't want their child to be a wizard? If witchcraft was real I would definitely encourage my child to enroll in witchcraft courses.
