It's a good survey in terms of facts, but I don't find his explanatory framework very strong. He doesn't appear to be a historical materialist, so he seems to just stop at the "fear" of women. He's got good facts but his explanations don't go deep.

By the way, on this topic I seriously recommend Blood Relations: Menstruation and the Origins of Culture by Chris Knight, a monumental work in (relatively) recent anthropology. You can download it for free on the author's website.
