I might be headed to LA soon and I was wondering if there were any left wing organizations out there? Socialist or progressive. Any left wing bookstores, collectives, places to hear lectures from socialist or progressive activists, etc.

There is a shitload of stuff going on. Depending on what part of the city you live in. If your out in the valley, West lake or Sherman Oaks you'll be lonely. Echo Park, Los Feliz or Silver Lake and you'll be right at home./ Go across town to the beach and it gets more liberal until you hit Venice, though Venice isn't as organized as one would think. PM me if you need something in particular.

There is a decently large leftist movement there. I know the PSL is big there. There's also lots of anarchists

Occupy LA still seems to be semi-active in some form, see recent clash with LAPD during a friday art walk.
