OTTAWA – Labour Minister Lisa Raitt says the government must act now to end a strike by 4,800 Canadian Pacific Railway workers in order to preserve the country’s international reputation. The Harper government is tabling back-to-work legislation, the third time it has intervened in a labour dispute in similar fashion in the last year.
“Simply put, the strike can’t go on,” Raitt told the House of Commons on Monday. “We need to get the trains running again.”
She said Canada’s reputation as an international business partner is at stake, and that CP Rail’s business affects a million workers in the bulk shipping industry and has an impact of half a billion dollars a week on the Canadian economy.
“The work stoppage is preventing our ability to keep products moving in and out of Canada and that undermines Canada’s reputation as a reliable place to do business,” said Raitt.
Mediated contract talks between the railway and the Teamsters union representing locomotive engineers and conductors collapsed Sunday. Here we go again..

and that why folks, crown corporations are BULLSHIT!

For those who are not familiar with the concept, a crown corporation is just like any corporation out there, but they also serve the state.

It verry useful for bourgeois; crown corporation unions can be bullied AND be subject to governement intervention when their bosses are unable to milk the worker during labor negociations.

Canada post is a crown corporation. what happened last time they tried to negociate with their CEO? Back to work legislation.

Air canada is a crown corporation, what happened last time they tried to reason with their bosses? Back to work legislation.

I let you guess what gonna happen with the CN strike.

Non-intervention governement my fucking arse.

“The work stoppage is preventing our ability to keep products moving in and out of Canada and that undermines Canada’s reputation as a reliable place to do business,” said Raitt.
This is precisely the reason why I think the transportation and communication industries are the most crucial to radically organize, they wield by far the most dangerous striking power.

Teamster leaders are notorious for their level of douche baggery, let's just hope that if they cave, the workers pull a Jeffboat (http://www.iww.org/en/history/campaigns/jeffboat/8) and keep fighting
