My feeble attempt at a Website...

This is my Website. What with all the homemade pages around these days, I thought I should give it a try. It's pretty simple, my knowledge of HTML is somewhat limited.

And obviously, it's still under construction... None of the links will work and there is nothing up there bar the framework... But what do people think of the framework???

Don't use white backgrounds. Thats my suggestion

If you use a white background. Make some colored tables or graphics around it to make it look more professional/interesting. I will gadly help you. I have a good understanding of HTML and I'm ok with graphics.

The background eh? What colour would you choose? It was initially Red with Black text but that was too bright... Even dull red was a bit too much...

And background images are a pain - considering I have no graphics editor except paint and photo-ed!

DeadMan, how about you post a suitable HTML script up here? Or PM me? Any help is most appreciated...

I would consider using larger, bolder text. it's a bit hard on the eyes right now.

I can't wait to hear what you have to say on the bible.

As personal websites go it is well above average. Looking forward to your content. If you feel the need change the still after you have put up your poetry ,essays,etc. Look around other peoples sites and see if you can pinch some of their ideas.

Scroll down to source, the trick is to work out were the code begins and ends. By the way dont goto commercial sites.

If you want add some effects, or maybe an intro, you can use a program called swish. Very very easy to use (flash)

For a first attempt, it really isn't bad at all. I agree with those who advised against a white background. It tends to be hard on the eyes (it's like staring at a light bulb). The most important thing is content. Content is king.

Personally, I prefer a green background, but black, with bright, bold text, is just as good.

You know, I'm bored...it's 2:08am. Just got home from a night of partying...so I'm gonna make you a nice template if you feel like using, then great, if you don't....then I'll use it for something else so biggy. I'm gonna get started. I'll keep you posted.

Ok. It's 3:14am. I am about 50% done a basic site. Alot of touch up on a nice che picture I took and modified. It's looking really basic and I'm sorry. But I'm not gonna put 4-5 hours into something he might not use. Well. I'll have something up within an hour for you guys to review.

Ok. It's now 3:46am. I'm done Version 0.1. Man was I ever bored. Killed time. Now I'm actually tired lol. I'm gonna upload it onto a free server out there and link it.

I'll change the background ASAP. I just followed my own link (have been making adjustments offline), and the bastards hosting the site insist on opening numerous pop-ups which is rather annoying... Sorry about that...

Deadman, you certainly are committed; either that or very bored! Believe it or not the design actually started out black and red, (copying che-lives!) but I thought it was too dreary! But I agree, white is a little 'hard on the eyes'.

I'll try and have some stuff up there soon...

you should start with a free template so that everything looks nice. here check this site out. its easy. just download and then upload the pics to your site. after that copy the html code.

I have Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks and all that stuff. I just simply don't work really hard at it. I used to love doing it, but like alot of things I like, they die off.

Colouring the background is a good suggestion, but don't use black or other dark colours. Use something in between dark and light. A grey might look alright, or a pale dark blue. Have a play around and find the perfect colour.

I wouldn't worry about having a colour theme. Just whatever looks good and is easy on the eyes is enough.
