What exactly is central planning? Are examples of central planning things such as Stalin's 5 year plans? Why is it seen as an inefficient way of running an economy?

Or even with given that it's centralised and therefore highly unresponsive to consumer needs. There is hardly any way for consumers to identify their needs with the central planners actually processing it.

even communist in the early 20 century did have similar arguments as '' advanced technology " . BTW your ''modern computing " did not master central planning as problems always arise . for example several country education system failure to meet market demand so they have to compensate initial failure next year planning which happens always

central planning is still better though than allowing private hands to control key services such as education , health care , security

i would rather leave the market in non-essential consumer goods , since it's ability to upgrade current tech ( technologies are mainly government military sector production ) to create new
stuff and lower production costs as he runs for profit and not for need
