Hi,
I'm very VERY new, not just to this forum but to the "Left" entirely. I use to be a conservative republican in ideology and a Catholic Christian.
I supported survival of the fittest, militarism and nationalism. I hated Obama and loved the GOP, saw handouts as stealing from some to give to others.
I saw every flawed and corrupt person who claimed to be a communist, anarchist or such as the proof of the ideologies flaws.
I never though of looking at myself or removing my "Party" mentality and really see with open eyes. I once was blinded into believing all the left wanted was drugs, abortion and orgies never really seeing the big picture. I believed many things which bordered on racism and I am deeply regretful of who I was. I've began to "mellow" out and re-examine my philosophy. I found out that I had feelings which were new to me, although I saw "Jesus feed the poor" I only saw feeding the poor as a friar's job. I didn't realize how poorly off people really are or how people have been not only oppressed but exploited.
I now consider myself a collectivist leftist but am still unsure and rather scared.
I hope you will take good care of me and teach me what it means to care.
Signed with love,
.Commie

Well,I am a believer in order and often times I see disorder and sometimes disgusting events take place under the name of revolution. Such as those of the "Occupy Wall St." who to my horror was completely wild and destructive. I know Marx,Engles even Lenin were orderly for the most part and am afraid that the modern revolution would bring about chaos without replacing it with a new system.
I know, that is pretty silly but I think everyone has some fear or another, even if it is not very educated.

The ends justify the means. Revolutions are dirty business, Marx, Engels, as well as Lenin all fully understood that force would be necessary in order to bring down the current system simply because power concedes nothing without demand, and by demand I don't mean writing your congressman, or voting for this or that person.
I don't understand how you can get anything done without being disorderly. Our goal is revolution, not reform. If you ask most of the people here they think that the OWS folks need to be much more radical and aggressive in their methods if they expect anything to get done.
Bullies only respond to force, and capital is the biggest bully of them all.

Not what I meant by chaos. I know,as I've read quite a few manifestos myself and know from history there is really no such thing as a quite revolution. Even the USA was not founded by peaceful demonstrations and pamphlets lol.
What I mean is chaos in it's truest sense, madness. people taking craps on and burning flags, doing hard drugs and acting crazy =.=

LORD! you are telling me! I once asked a question about the connection of Ezekiel's temple and Christianity, which I saw as contradicting ideologies and I was swarmed with disapprovals and insults to boot. Changing or questioning any position you ever had makes you look like a traitor but I think one should not be afraid of walking out of the dark

Regardless of our misunderstanding, welcome. I also come from a religious background (still believe, actually) and right wing family, so I know how it can be to do a complete 180 on political views.
I hope you learn some good stuff around here. The history and science sections, I find, are particularly helpful.

Thanks for welcoming me,I hope we can put this misunderstanding behind us and that we may grow and learn together in the spirit of brotherhood.
