View Full Version : Anticapitalist Initiative
Questionable

Just discovered a new project started by some radical leftists that is seeking to unite autonomous political groups against capitalism. They're based in the UK, and seem to be interested in setting up new chapters. Nothing really new, but their website has a nice layout and functions as an open editorial news source. The anticapitalist groups they currently have also seem to have a fairly impressive number of members.

They split off from Workers Power and associate with the Permanent Revolution grouping.

I don't know much about either of those factions. What's their history? Reason for the split?

This thread should be a bit more enlightening...

Problem with such a project is that it seeks a shortcut in building a revolutionary organisation by minimising differences and using what is considered progressive rhetoric to hide real differences. In the UK over the past twenty or so years there has been a variety of attempts and they all have ended in ignomous failure and or torn themselves apart. This attempt by both Workers Power and those who split from Workers Power to set up yet another new organisation will end the same way. The present economic crisis poses questions to the working class that can only be resolved by the development of a revolutionary Marxist party not some loose amalgam of well meaning progressives.
