I thought this was quite an interesting video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GqO55vJo_g&list=UUgr5cilTJPILaRYS7f_TkVA&index=2&feature=plcp). I agree 100% with MRN, i even believe "sexual education" should start as early as children can start to read, at least I learned about how i "was born" when i was a kid, something quite natural i think. What do you think?

How so? Do you want a constrained and sexually repressed society to live in??? ...or do you not also think education is an important virtue?

MRN, the great Communist master! All other tendencies fall short, MRN alone decides what is Communist, that's an objective fact.
I concur with WCOP. Sexual education is extremely important for a healthy society.

No, but I'm strongly against this:

I think that should wait until, you know, they have sexual organs that actually work.

Ah good o'l ignorance. I admit that this actually made me laugh a bit since the title itself is ridden with stupidity, than again we shouldn't be suprised. The political right loves to use, and promote religious arguements.

I would say I ultimately agree with MRN however I think the idea of teaching children sex "as soon as they can read," might be going a little to far. I think it should be at an age in which they fully understand what is being discussed. Not "today we're going to learn addition, we will be reading Goodnight Moon then it will be lunch, recess and nap time and then when you come back sex 101."
I think that should wait until, you know, they have sexual organs that actually work.
How is that a valid argument?

By that do you mean sexual organs that can be used for procreation? If so how would you know? Kids develop at different ages. Also, that would mean kids don't get any sexual education until they're practically teenagers running the risk of some already having unprotected sex.
I don't know about you but most kids tend to know about sex well before then. Let's also not forget the fact that there is childhood sexuality as much as it is cringworthy to discuss.
Reminds me of an incident my friend had with her daughter when she was six. Her daughter was masturbating. When you're confronted by that there's really only a few things you can do; ignore it, scold the child or talk to them about it. My friend chose the latter and i'd have done the same.
Sex education for children is important but it ought to be based on the child's age and maturity. There's no point going into graphic details for a young child and there's also no point in waiting until the child's old enough to get themselves or others pregnant.

No, but I'm strongly against this:

Did you know that males can have erections in the womb, and that most children masturbate before they're ten? There is no downside to teaching children how the body functions.

I'm not sure 'teaching kids about sex' and sexual organs as soon as they can start to read is a particularly good idea, really.
Young adults, teenagers etc. should be allowed to experiment as they wish, and of course when children get to the appropriate age (i.e. puberty and beyond) they should be taught about their biology, safe-sex and so on, but I don't think it's up to this or that group to 'educate' kids on what sex 'should' be about. That strikes me as patronising and intrusive.

Sorry, do you have any proof that 'most' children masturbate before they're ten? I find this hard to believe, since most kids do NOT hit puberty - at least in the form that allows them function of their sexual organs like masturbation - until later than 10. I know that I couldn't masturbate until after that and I was an early bloomer, so to speak.
There is a huge downside to forcing your opinions on children. Teaching will never be neutral, it will always be with propaganda, and whatever you say, teaching 8, 9 and 10 year old kids about how sexual technique is really not appropriate.
The most salient point is this: young adults will i'm sure become curious at different times - i'm sure some might become curious earlier and experiment, and some might only later. By saying that 'x part of sex education' should be taught at 'y age' is like saying to a kid, 'this is when you SHOULD be thinking about these things, feeling these things etc.
You just need to let people get on with these things at their own pace, man. Interfering in sex - whether it's pro- or anti- - is just not cool.

I agree. I was beating off furiously to Brazillian anal porn when I was 6.

Children naturally ask questions like "where do the babies come from?" or "what are the people on the television doing?". I find it much better to give honest answers - of course adjusted to the child's age and maturity - than inventing fairy tales about storks. I would rather have that my daughter grows up learning that babies come from sex and that sex is something nice that grownups can do together than teaching her that sexuality is shameful and something one should not talk about.
