Hi folks, after searching the web for places to discuss socialism and other related topics I stumbled upon this site. It seems to be a very great community!

My political ideology can be described as somewhat complex, but I can be boiled down to being called a "Southern Nationalist". I believe that the southern United States needs to succeed from the country. The North has been oppressing the farmers and workers of the South ever since the end of the Civil War. Only through socialism will we be able to stand up to the bourgeois. Also please do not think I am a racist just because I believe in succession. African-Americans are an integral part of the South and it's culture. They are welcomed in the class struggle against the fascist policies of northern politicians and capitalists. We can both overthrow our opressors and establish a dictatorship of the proletariat in the southern US.

Anyway, I hope I can have some interesting discussions with my fellow comrades.

This forum is already full of nationalists, why is suddenly a Southern nationalist so much worse? In my eyes, the issues is in no way different from issues like Scottish or Catalan independence, both being cases of "acceptable" nationalism in the left. US South isn't inherently worse than any other region in the world.

While I despise the so-called "left-nationalists" on this board, to actually identify as a "southern nationalist" in respect to the US has a certain connotation which this poster is no doubt familiar with.

and generally i'd agree, but, given what sort of political movements are aligned with southern nationalism and secession, this dude is either a white supremacist, or will eventually become a white supremacist. although he could also just be a complete moron who has terrible politics like all left-nationalists, and doesn't understand the terrible connotations that come with ideas like southern secession.

Allow me to preface this by saying that I am opposed to concept of national liberation, and do not believe that national identity has anything to do with communism, and is in fact, an impediment to it.

That said, the tendency of individuals to adopt the so-called "southron" view, and advocate things like secession for the southern US is an entirely reactionary political movement with its roots in racism, neo-feudalist economics, and generally shitty things. I don't have a problem with the south, in fact, I prefer it, but this does not make me a "southern nationalist".
