I'm going to stay out of this one.

You appear to be the first one in it.

According to a "think tank" in Skorea.

I won't deny it, but I'm skeptical.

I do not see the story in all honesty.People eat other people when starving... what is the point? This happens everywhere in all countries including America. Executing said people, however, is not something any humane government would consider.

I'm going to go ahead and doubt that this is true, but at the same time not stating it as 100%.

inb4 ML's defend glorious anti-imperialist DPRK.

Could easily be true; whatever the causes it is fact that a lot of North Koreans are starving or suffering from extreme hunger, should we really be that surprised if some resort to cannibalism?

I doubt it is true, but it really wouldn't surprise me either knowing how few food there is for the people there.

In a more relevant manner put; should we really be appalled at "cannibalism" as such, rather than the awful food situation? Is not the lack of food the problem, not that the bodies of the dead are being devoured, which apart from health risks (which surely are beyond the concern of someone starving) is no more offensive than a conventional burial and death-fetish ritual? This whole stigma around cannibalism is a foolish moral knee-jerk response often used to pass judgement particularly on people starving as being somehow morally degenerate people, often used against starving farmers at various times in history to vilify them.

The subtext of course is that the North Korean people are de-facto extensions of the, in the media-eyes, omnipotent Kim's and therefore share the leader's, as they simply see it, wicked ways, ergo they are "ferocious uncivilised cannibals".

Oh yeah I agree, cannibalism accusations seem to have been used often throughout history as a means to demonise the Other

South Africa has more deaths by starvation than North Korea. I don't doubt this case as it is quite frequent even today, but since it's "North Korea" it gets reported... Lookey Here (http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/cause-of-death/malnutrition/by-country/)

Most likely a load of imperialist propaganda to slander the DPRK, move on.

Has anyone noticed that Kim Jong Un has a KimSongil kind of style? Kim Jong Il was just ridiculous and no one could ever take him seriously, not to the slightest degree. Kim Jong Un actually could make a stereotypical leader.

Except it isn't being used to demonise 'the other', but has been stated, for whatever reason, by a think tank in South Korea I would imagine is composed of the co-nationals of the people accused of cannibalism, and most likely what some sort of reunification with them.

I've seen any number of south Korean movies and, if the ladies in the north are as pretty as the ones in the south, I'll happily eat a Korean woman as soon as they arrive at market.
