Not a big fan of the genre like I used to be. I'll always love This Bike is a Pipe Bomb and old Against Me though (FL PRIDE). Rosa's 'I Mississippi You' is also great. Reminds me of some good times.

Asking For It (and all of Chris Burrow's stuff)
Davey Dynamite (look him up on facebook or something, great guy)
Tommy the Commie (that's me, I had to give myself a shout out)
The Casual Terrorist

I dunno how it is anymore, but when I was younger and punker, I loved this shit, but all the people doing it were the worst pieces of shit I ever met. Every single one of them was a fucking oogle, and they were all assholes and jerks.

And Ryan Harvey is really shitty to girls, and an all-around dickhead.

Everybody who likes this should check out Spookrat.

Really? I've never met him or anything but he seems like he would be a chill dude.

(I always forget that in Yankeeland "folk punk" means this sort of acoustic stuff. Over here it means like The Pogues and that.)

(Edit: The sorta thing that Yugo45 posted, fr'example, is what I'd think of as "folk punk". Wonder how the disparity came about- the styles prominent in different regional scenes, I guess?)

around here, stuff like the pogues, dkm, flogging molly etc is just considered celtic punk, and usually associated more with the streetpunk scene than anything else. i think it has something to do with the fact that the bands we're discussing are primarily bluegrass or sixties-rebel folk inspired, and therefore seen as "americana" in style, whereas straight celtic-style folk punk is seen as more of an foreign genre. i'm guessing that (and anyone who knows can back me up or refute me) stuff like gogol bordello, devotchka and blackbird raum is seen as general folk punk within scenes in eastern europe.

I'm listening to Squinch Owl right now. There's another thread about this somewhere you might want to search for it.
