I'm well into my PC gaming, but never found a game that satisfied my taste for survival horror. IMO, no game since Resident Evil on PS1 has filled that void, till now!
DayZ is a modification based on a persistent server, so what ever server you join, you keep the stuff you had. However, should you die. You must start all over again.

You start the game with no map, no compass. Just some food, drink, handgun with limited ammo, flares, painkillers, bandages and morphine. You must scavenge to find all of above and more. You must eat and drink, and avoid zombies.
But zombies are not your only worry, other players are your biggest worry. They can murder you, and still your stuff if they see fit. People turn into bandits when their humanity level drops, and their character skin changes. However, you can still form survival groups.
If you own Arma 2:OA/Reinforcements and Arma 2, you can download it for free at www.dayzmod.com.
Honestly, this game racks up an experience I cannot recommend you guys play it. Check out CHKilroy's videos for a more teamwork perspective
