i'm out of town so i dont know it what exactly happend but is seems that the cops and mayor just escalated their war on the movement. sunday is traditional squatting day where we casually break open some long empty speculation objects owned by the mob. the cops evicted the house a few hours later but this time they didnt only arrest the occupants but also everyone looking remotely squattish in the street.
ill update as soon as i know more...

Scum. How dare they use property that is just sitting there, meanwhile causing no damage or harm to the owners interests. Jesus people we have empty houses for a reason!
Oh wait...

still out of town but the story is getting a bit clearer, the building was already squatted, police showed up, comander in charge demanded access to the building as was custom before the squatting criminalisation. squatters refused, showed him proof the house was empty when it was squatted and told him a courtcase was already filed so he could just piss off. cops went beserk and attacked with dogs and clubs and in the end arrested 38 (!) people.

Pass row after row of boarded up / empty houses on bus rides into town in supposed 'regeneration' zones.
Can't stand the absurdity of attacking and arresting people over 'private property' that isn't being used by any private tenants or what have you :(

this is what the stretched arm of the law has in store for you if you stand your ground peacefully in the face of injustice (trigger warning, brutal police violence)

Peeps have no choice other than to squat.
In the my home town, there are thousands on the waiting list for social housing, very little of which is available since the selling off of council housing, and firece restrictions imposed on the building of new ones.
Many private landlords ask extortionate rents for crap sub-standard accommodation, and they want a bond too. Mostly they won't rent to people who qualify for Housing Benefit (like the unemployed, people on the sick), and if they do, the benefit often doesn't cover the full cost of the rent anyway.
And the video shows the police as exactly what they are: fucking scum lackeys for capital :star:

i was 11 years on the waitinglist, got my 40m2 house (that even while heavily subsidised still eats up almost half of my paycheckin rent) only by chance, i'm the last social renter to move into my street, after me everything will be sold/free market rent.
the house that was squatted was actually arround the corner from me.
typical story, its owned by a housingcorperation, these are monstrous privatised companies that got as a parting present the milions of houses they now own for a symbolic euro. These houses where build with either tax money or in the case of this neighboorhood even straight out of the paycheck of the workers.
in the block/street in question the corperation refused to do any maitanance for years, now they want to do an very expensive renovation to sell/rent the house on the free market. Logically the renters refuse their cooperation hence the stalemate, the emptiness and the derliction..

more than a 100 squatter just resquatted the appartment, perfectly timed with the mayor just being forced on local TV to half-arsedly condemn the police brutality from last sunday... :tt2:
cops came, decided engaging again was probably biting of more then they could chew, left...

One of the worst feelings in the world is being boxed out away from a group of friends who are being beaten and arrested. One of the best feelings is surging back in to help them and watching the police panic and run. This didn't happen there but glad to see that shit got reoccupied.
