Only in Amurica....A former member of Beaverton Bible Church (Oregon) is being sued by the church for criticizing them online. Apparently the pastor isn't familiar with the concept of free speech.

That's what you get for going to church.

Apparently the pastor isn't familiar with the concept of free speech.

The pastor's concept of free speech, is that he stands at the front of the church, shepherding his holy flock with his indoctrinating propaganda, and they sit there like dumb sheep, taking it all in.

BREAKING NEWS.

Who cares.

The OP cared enough to post, and others to reply. And religionists pursuing those who dare to criticize, is newsworthy and of concern to many peeps.

That's who cares :star:

Well if this lawsuit goes through, it will set a precedent where if you criticize a church they have the right to sue you - it will mean the end of free speech. I think there's good reasons to care about that.

As if we had any to begin with. What it would do would be establishing a formal state-sponsored religion. One step closer to Fascism.

A "showdown" between freedom of religion and freedom of speech? lolwut.

I didn't know a church could sue for something as stupid as this. It looks very suspiciously like one last-ditch attempt to get a dollar out of someone.

I thought this was going to involve that Church in America that has those "GOD HATES FAGS" posters or whatever. What were they called?

Westboro Bapist Church I think...fucking assholes (wish I could be for articulate about it, but they are)

OP: That is sadly unsurprising and just plain sad...for christians, they're not doing much forgiving or cheek turning..but then alot of them don't (cherry-picking the part of the bible that suit their own social or political ends)
