Making a topic so my account doesn't get deleted for not having any posts.

Interested in communism, but still fairly poorly read. I feel like I need to do a bit more research before I align myself with any specific ideologies. Besides the Manifesto, I've mostly read Lenin and Trotsky, but I'm looking to expand a little. Heard good things about Luxemburg, if anyone has any suggestions. Also working on Capital Vol 1 right now, which is going pretty well.

Anyway, I've been enjoying lurking the learning boards for the past week, and I think I'll enjoy having this site to check out.

Cheers

Welcome! You've already begun some heavy reading, and comrades will be helpful in sorting it all out. I've learned a lot here.

If you want some Luxemburg suggestions, I would point to:

Reform or Revolution

The Mass Strike

The Russian Revolution

The National Question

The Junius Pamphlet

Organizational Questions of the Russian Social Democracy

All of these are available here: http://www.marxists.org/archive/luxemburg/index.htm

PS: To be onest, I would suggest reading all of her works!

Hey comrade, welcome. That's some good reading, and Luxemburg is indeed a great next step. Ask if you need anything.

Welcome, and don't write off the works of Stalin or Hoxha in your reading. You may just find them very poignant.

?

Luxemburg's works are quite sophisticated and are not for someone :
fairly poorly read. And a labyrinthine, sophisticated, tangled work can only deserve a convoluted explanation. I'd say Luxemburg is not for the casual beginner.

@BookMarx: if you are interested i can recommend you some Marxist-Leninist literature.

I've been reading a bit of Reform or Revolution since I haven't read any of her works either. It seems like a good place to start.

Poorly read? It appears that most of the users here are poorly read but that still doesn't prevent them from posting. As for Rosa, probably my favourite work of hers that I've read is What is Economics?

I had to buy a book from America to read that. It's in the Rosa Luxemburg Speaks. It's still just a selected piece though, with a bunch left out which apparently just deals with her arguing with economists of the time. I think it's a pretty good introductory text to economics and gives nice hints about how a classless society might operate.

If you can read Marx, you can read Rosa.

Stop trying to deter people away from non-Stalinist literature.

They're publishing her entire works now, and here's the first vol. Economic Writings.

THIS is what i've been waiting for.

Oh you ultra-leftist piece of shit! I have to buy that now.... :( It's strange that there's no online version of What is Economics though.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I am interested in Marxist-Leninism, but I'm that's most of what I've read. Interested in Rosa as I understand her to be sort of an opposing view.

Also, I feel like I made a mistake when I chose my username by not including a "bro" pun, but such is life.
